1. OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD Pizza (Literally)
If you like salami pizza like me (I mean, who doesn't?!), Then you will love this fact! GO! In 2001, Pizza Hut collaborated with the Russian space agency and used a Proton rocket to send a six-inch salami pizza to the International Space Station (ISS) as a promotional campaign. The pizza packaging was vacuum-sealed pouches! Talk about an extraterrestrial meal!
2. Space Suit STATS
Did you know that a spacesuit weighs around 280 pounds without the astronaut inside? That's like carrying a couple of baby elephants on your back! It takes up to 45 minutes for an astronaut to put on this massive suit and be ready to take off into space. There's the warm-up for the workout off the checklist!
3. Space Is Our Second Home... Right?
Humans have been travelling into space since 1961! I guess it's about time we call it home sweet home... right?
4. Lots Of MONEY 🤑🤑
The total cost of the entire Apollo space program, which aimed to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth, was approximately $25.4 billion USD. Adjusted for inflation, this would amount to roughly $152 billion USD in today's currency! This significant investment reflects the scale and ambition of the Apollo program, which remains one of the most iconic achievements in human space exploration!
5. Are YOU Up To The TEST?
To become a pilot astronaut, you must have completed 1000 hours of flying time in a jet aircraft!
