What's up?

Today, we're going to be having Fun with Flags! 🏁🏁 

I'm going to be showing you flags, and I'll talk with you about the history of the flag, its meaning, and sometimes even the country's name.

OK, No more diddly-daddlying around now, and lets GO!!

Have you ever heard of Venezuela? No, not Venice, I mean Venezuela!

If you thought of Venice by only thinking of the country's name Venezuela, then you are not wrong.

When Amerigo Vespucci was on an expedition led by Alonso de Ojeda to the Venezuelan Coast, Amerigo thought that Venezuela looked like Venice, so he named the place "Venesiola" or "Little Venice"

The official meaning behind the colours of the flag is: Yellow: Wealth of the region. Blue: Courage, loyalty, justice, perseverance as well as the ocean that separates Venezuela from Spain. Red: Independence from Spain and bloodshed by the patriots who fought for the country's independence.

And during the first half of the 19th century, seven stars were added to the flag to represent the seven signatories to the Venezuelan Declaration of Independence, being the provinces of Caracas, Cumaná, Barcelona, Barinas, Margarita, Mérida, and Trujillo.

Whoosh! That was really interesting... What's next?

Do you know Denmark? It's actually one of my favourite flags, countries and names! 

Denmark is actually the oldest flag in the world, and it has never changed for over 800 Years!!

The Danish flag's red background means "battle," while the white stands for "peace." The white cross is a symbol of Christianity, and other countries, like the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway,

have similar symbols on their flags. 🌍🚩

The Danish flag is very interesting and cool. I personally think they shouldn't change it and should keep their record for having the oldest flag in the world.

Now ready to jump onto the next flag? I'm ready, but I don't know about you...

Weren't we just talking about the oldest flag in the world? Now let's go on to the newest flag in the world, which belongs to Mauretania, a country in Africa.

The flag on the left is the old flag, and the one on the right is the new one.

The old flag of Mauritania was adopted on April 1, 1959. The colours green and gold are considered Pan-African colors. Green is also to symbolize Islam, and the gold for the sands of the Sahara desert. The crescent and star are symbols of Islam, which is the major religion in the nation.

The new flag of the state of Mauritania means the same thing as the old one. The only difference is the new 2 red stripes that were recently added to the national flag, which means: "The efforts and sacrifices that the people of Mauritania will keep consenting, to the price of their blood, to defend their territory."
